Drakos Urgent Care is looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team! In this position, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care, promoting wellness, and ensuring positive patient experiences. Your clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and dedication to patient advocacy will be instrumental in delivering innovative healthcare solutions and enhancing patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the screening, assessment, and documentation of patient health status.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Perform basic patient care procedures, such as wound care, splinting, and vital sign measurements.
  • Educate patients on health conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up care instructions.
  • Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues, ensuring accurate and timely exchange of information.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records, documenting patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining patient charts, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with minor medical procedures, including wound suturing, suture removal, and foreign body removal.
  • Perform point-of-care testing, specimen collection, and laboratory tasks as needed.
  • Participate in emergency response protocols, assisting in urgent and critical situations.
  • Administer first aid and initial care in emergencies while awaiting further medical attention.
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families during stressful situations.
  • Offer guidance on preventive care, health promotion, and wellness strategies.
  • Follow strict infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients and staff.
  • Adhere to proper hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and disposal of biohazardous materials.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, suggesting process enhancements and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid LPN license in New York State.
  • Completion of an accredited LPN program.
  • BLS certification.
  • Recognizes, respects and values the equality of EMS colleagues in the healthcare setting.
  • Previous experience in urgent care, emergency room, or fast-paced medical setting is preferred.
  • Proficient in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and basic computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and a strong sense of empathy.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
